Hey, I just finished building (at my wife's request) a chicken coop, just in time for the arrival of 5 pullets... It's a little rough (unlike the curtains in your photo) but structurally sound, but I tell people I'm not a finish carpenter (I'm a Swedish one), a that usually allows a little forgiveness, especially since my normal work is drawing things.

Our hands and minds need different kinds of attention to maintain ourselves so don't apologize for taking time to do the practical and satisfying work needed to balance the system in this increasingly off balance world.

That's a good line--I say that I'm part of the Slow Carpentry movement!

My ancestry is Swedish so it's a bad joke. My dad and grandfather were both carpenters who were quite talented (and very old school artisans).

Thank you for sharing Starhawk - and reminding us of the preciousness of doing things with our hands and eyes and bodies in creative harmony (a counterpoint to keyboards and glowing

screens that hypnotize our eyes) 🙏🙏🙏💖

I totally get it Starhawk. Me too. We all need a break from whatever we’re doing sometimes to rest and renew and simply chill or burn out. And then we find we’re recharged and ready to rock🤘We can’t run on empty or on what we don’t have. You’re a wise lady and letting wisdom dictate your decisions. Your body knows and tells you what you need. Blessed be.

Thank you for sharing, Starhawk! The tide ebbs and flows and so does creativity. The shelves and curtains look great!

Take care of YOU and we’ll be here when you get back. Holding you in my thoughts. 💕🤗🙏🏼

Dear Starhawk

Please rest.

Even for us as readers it is a lot to keep up with - I am subscribed to about 7 substacks and 3-4 podcasts and all share worthwhile thoughts that can do with mulling over.... so already too much.

This besides what I'm hearing from humans physically around me, God bless,

and absorb via my phone (latter mostly but not only, noise).

I never knew about Austrian blinds, yours look darling.

Long time reader and appreciator of your books and now substack also

Thanks So Much Star! What a beautiful, heart-centered sharing. You continue to be such an inspiration for me about how to be a true human activist amidst a challenging world. I always ask the question, "What would Star do?" You're such a giving, forthright model for us all.

I'm excited about your book and have loved how you shared it. I've been meaning to ask if there might be one chapter or excerpt you might be willing to share for the Alliance for Sustainability's Transformative Sustainability newsletter and Substack as part of our ongoing series on Overcoming Uncivil Wars, which we'll also be making into a book. We've featured a range of voices and your take would be wonderful.

In the meantime, I'm sending you lots of love and positive, healing energy, plus wishes for being, creating, writing, not writing and leading.

Best wishes for healing. Remember too- sometimes less is more.

Definitely, take time off. You've done a tremendous amount of selfless service to the (world) community. We'll still be here when you get back.
