Yes--me, too--tears. I spent years teaching writing on a Marine base in the USA--I 'supported the troops' by fostering the critical thinking skills many had in abundance, by giving them a place to write their stories. And yet that same empty accusation was aimed at me at demonstrations. These crosses are so real to me. I see my students faces, and the faces of the other students--the little girls in Iran--and my heart breaks yet again. As a lifelong activist against US wars, it is good to be reminded of how many of us there are and how powerful the work is and has been. Blessed be, Starhawk and everyone here.
