This is, in my opinion, fully aligned with the teachings of Jesus and, due to the fact that many so-called Christians fail to see this is a sad commentary on the state of the Christian faith here in the U.S. As a fellow Pagan, the failure to align with Christ is one of the reasons I left Christianity behind.

Incidentally, I like the sun and moon on the image shared with this piece.

Blessings,

That was a piece of sculpture on La Chapelle, near Notre Dame in Paris, that I was able to visit last summer. I'm not absolutely sure the figure was meant to be Jesus, but it seemed like it was to me!

It sure seems to be Jesus. There are wonderful Earth-based beliefs connected with Jesus in art as you may know from Creation Spirituality.

I love this so much! Especially the vision of multi-generational living and prioritising childcare. I have been thinking a lot about design, recently, and how it could enable us to be more connected and supportive of each other.

I feel like we could add nuclear disarmament to that para on peace!

Hi Starhawk. I’m a Jesus person as I call myself and Jewish too which may sound paradoxical and an anomaly but I don’t subscribe to the churchy variety of Jesus or Yeshua. But rather to the gentle Rabbi of Galilee. I actually like your approach Starhawk regarding Jesus rather than the Church’s stereotypical “Jesus” because it’s more correct and humane. Christ to me in the nitty gritty details of life rocks my spirituality. He’d be helping out in the soup kitchens etc rather than sitting in the stained glass churches. I don’t find Jesus having a problem with my Pagan and Witch friends at all. Hopefully we’ll get it right as humanity and rock together because we have only this one world to live in together right now. Blessed be 🤝

So beautifully said, Starhawk. I am Christian, and do not consider many current expressions of christianity to be Christian. What you're saying is much more accurate. Jesus did not say "worship me', he said 'be like me'. I so resonate with your vision, your understanding of who Jesus called us to be with and for each other in this world. Thank you for expressing all that this, and for being just exactly who you are.

I’m pretty sure this is the only version of Christianity that wouldn’t fill me with rage. (Also I’m going to hold onto this vision of a truly livable country. Thank you.)

I'd love to see every single person in this country make a living wage; think of how that would feel, to know that everyone earned enough to pay for necessities with only one job, to not worry about your and your family's health, to not have to decide between food and rent, to not see want and pain in the faces we pass in the street...that is not too much to demand.

Starhawk! So lovely to see you here. Thanks for this. I'm a Jew and Pagan, as well. Mr. Jesus was as well, but don't tell those Christians, it will blow their minds. This was a great post. A real treat. I don't understand why it's so hard for people to take care of one another and cherish the planet and resources we've been gifted with. We're supposed to take care of it, not destroy it.

Thanks for this articulate analysis of some of the problems of monotheistic patriarchal religions, specifically the Christian one. They tend to preach love when what they truly want is dominion.

Thank you for your powerful reflection! It certainly reflects my beliefs about Jesus. As a Christian who has been in your classes and participated with you in Reclaiming, I deeply appreciate this vision. There really are Christians who embrace this. And, freedom of religion is an essential for me. Thank you to those of you who replied.

I sometimes go to the Lutheran Church when I need to sit in a pew with other people and sing six beautiful songs to the soaring Glory of the human heart and of surrender to the mystery. I sit there and translate the father is the mystery, the great universe, literally world without end. The son is the living Earth and therefore we are crucifying the son every day. And the holy Ghost is whatever that is in our hearts that bonds us to one another and other living things. Good people there, doing good in the world. Makes me wonder who are those Christians who violate every commandments every day?

What if we really put it back into the Christian viewpoints. I think we see more emphasis in these troubled times on the God of the Old Testament. Warlike, jealous, vengeful. Christianity began with the birth and the teachings of Yeshua/Jesus. But when I look for those teachings as leading the behavior of those who claim to be Christians…in public eye…I don’t see them very often.
