I’m travelling and teaching a lot this summer, so I’ll be shifting my focus a bit in posts and podcasts. This week, in my Podcast, The Movement We Need, I interview Brandy Gallagher, who founded O.U.R. Ecovillage, about the challenges and rewards of an intentional community and learning center. I thought you might also like some pictures, as they’ve done some truly spectacular natural building. Here’s Brandy inside Freya’s House, a cob and strawbale home with natural plasters and beautiful interior finishes:
Freya’s House:
The Healing Sanctuary, where I’m sleeping:
Here’s the Zero-Mile Eatery, built with timber frame infilled with wood-chip slip:
Mixing cob—clay, sand and straw:
And making our part of a new wall:

Love the pictures! Thanks Starhawk for sharing them. Everyone looks so happy! Real Earthmothers with Nature.Pure basics. I really believe we need to get back to an agricultural society and system for the survival of our Mother whom we came from and live upon as well as our own survival. I studied anthropology and indeed found that the healthiest societies were and are agricultural ones. I’m all for progress and for technology that aids agricultural products and services however without exploiting Earth’s natural resources for corporate profit and consumption with greed being the prime motivation. Keep up the awesome work Starhawk and gang in helping protect Her and whatever precious treasures She has to share with us for our survival and also to thrive. I’m really going Green and Brown in my living though I’m a downtown messenger of envelopes in Montreal Canada.Your books and spiritual insights have totally revolutionized my life within and without little by little as I’m a constant work in progress as we all are though probably you’re all way farther ahead than I am. Blessed be.
I enjoyed & learned from this post - & the podcast.
