Yes. Ashamed to be an American. Yes, apologies to Ukraine, to Europe, to Canada, to Mexico, to most of the world. We are a global community. One action has multiple effects. My sorrow to friends world wide. We must work, protest, write letters, make phone calls, and find a way to find harmony in each day.

Thank you, Starhawk. I stand with Ukraine too,

from France. I am a dual national. Not since 1939 have we been closer to a general war on the continent. Putin's propaganda has twisted many of my friends on the Left. I too worked against Trump's election and I too feel great shame and grief.

I feel the same. Ashamed to be an American and mostly for our unwavering support of the Zionist regime and their equally disgusting expansionist and ethnic-cleansing goals. The two-headed monster of our US political system, the media, universities, etc. have pandered to Israel's impunity for decades.

Yes, that too. Biden's unwillingness to stop Netanyahu's assault on Gaza made it hard to muster enthusiastic support for him and Kamala, as she didn't break from him. And harder to make the case that we should oppose Putin's war crimes when we wouldn't stand against Netanyahu's. And now Trump is even worse!

The propaganda is spreading. I have people I have always thought reasonable give me that jive. Jeffrey Sachs, who used to be credible, is behind some of it, as he has now guzzled Putin's CoolAid but people still think he knows what he is talking about.

But I will keep saying what I know to be true. Thank you Starhawk for this first person account. May the Goddess protect Ukraine and all of Europe!

Dear Starhawk, i respect your work alot, but i wish to provide you with some information + perspectives that are a little contrary to your conclusions. Don't wish to reveal too much about my own personal data all that much in the substack and all the internet surveillance krapitalism realms, but maybe a few counterpoints might suffice to broaden your perspectives. 1. I live a little closer to Ukraine on the old and very active faultines of the east/west narratives + tensions. I speak with a wide range of people who grew up in and live in the former eastbloc territories nearly every day. 2. None of us want to live in dictatorship ! 3. Krapitalism AND all the Oligarch-ruled countries are all dictatorships on various levels w/ different systemic abuses 4. US hegemony ambitions and transactional-based + war-profiteering politics are NOT russian propaganda; they have been creating all kinds of mayhem around the world for decades, as u and your readers all know very well. 5. Trump's current pivot on Ukraine probably shouldnt be considered something unrelated to the persistent US imperialist meddling, it's a strange mutated and dangerous continuation by different and perhaps even more ruthless means. 6. EU and/or US saving Ukraine from Putin/ Russia is a joke; Both oppressive systems suck ! ... 7. If i watch Matt Duss vs. Jeffery Sachs on Dem Now ( just the other day ), it's like watching gringos trying to westsplain about territories + cultures and histories which they do not inhabit and so are analyzing from a very far away and very privileged lens. Neither one really gets it fully. But at least Sachs knows enough to call out all the US bullshit and terror and suffering that it manufactures on a regular basis for populations around the globe. 8. Conclusion: most people who live in the regions want the (proxy) wars to end as soon as possible ! If that means conceding territories or dumping an ambitious Ukrainian installed-president who stuck his whole showbiz tongue ( Kvartal 95 ) up the ass of western-aligned oligarchs, then we aren't going to cry too much about his fate. We know we live in satellite countries inbetween dangerous super power-predators, we might actually settle for an agreement NOW that ends the daily threat of WW3 and 4 and 5 ... and avoid all the bills (and corpses) that will come later from the US, EU, Brussels and NATO for having fought it for them !

I also stand with Ukraine for no genetic heritage reason. I stand with Ukraine because it is the right thing to do! Thank you for posting this and thank you for ALL the work you do. We can have a better world, it just won't be with racist, condescending false "kings".

Glory to Ukraine. I have refugee friends who are making a new life here, in Ojai. But like refugees everywhere, they get the lowest paying jobs, even though one woman worked as a translator for USAid years ago when Ukraine was democratizing. Now she's a cashier at the 5&Dime. It's heartbreaking. They want to go home.

This, exactly this, thank you.

"There are times when we need to poke around in the shadows, looking for hidden causes and secrets, but there are other times when we need to see the truth that's right smack there staring us in the face. Now is one of those times. We need to be smart and courageous, to open our eyes, see what's in front of us, and stand up for justice."

We stand with the place of our ancestors..they were probably neighbors. We stand with sanity, peacemongering, fighting like he'll if it comes to that. It may. Continued gratitude to you, Starhawk, for your lifetime of work.

Thank you Starhawk. I am always interested in your experienced and considered point of view. I remain confused about who is violating who. I don't trust Zelensky either - it seems he has his own fascist agenda, and willing to sacrifice Ukranians and whoever for it. Of course we want the war to stop, but present so-called US president will only further his own fascist imperialist narcissistic agenda, with no admission of US dirty deals that contribute to the present situation (except to conveniently blame Biden of course). Hopefully peace will make its way through the quagmire, despite them all.
