Wow! So much I agree with here. When you say "The first rule of framing is never to buy into the opposition's frame," that's exactly a point made in George Lakoff's Don't Think of an Elephant, which is all about framing in political movements-- highly recommended! One thing the alt-right is good at is framing the opposition, or us, better than we frame our own messages, and that needs to change. I also loved the section on shaming. People will leave movements if they feel shamed and that is the opposite of building a movement. The moderates and radicals need to unite and not shame one another, but try to see life from the other's perspective.
"COVID epidemic"? It was and still is a pandemic. Please refrain from past-tensing it, many of us still need to mask, immuno-compromised, disabled folks or our partners, and far too many among the so-called left, and even anarchists, have proven themselves to be ableists who have abandoned us. And that hurts even more from people who should and could know better.
You’ve always been a master of embodied practice, @starhawk. The exercise you recommended here as an alternative to FAFO is a powerful one. I’m gonna be passing it on.
Thank you for being a real leader in these dark times - thank you for your fairness and insight to help ground all of us as we work for needed change- it has been so tempting to give into the shame and blame and name calling- thank you for the very much needed reminders to take the high ground to channel our anger into constructive change - the political pendulum will swing from right to left and back again unless hearts are won and I don't know of anyone who is inspired to change and do right from blaming and name calling.
The problem with the left I they are very prone to binary thinking. If you aren't 100% in line with their thinking you must be MAGA. Calling out democrats for funding and supporting a genocide seemed to make you people think I supported Donald Trumo, which I do not, but I also will not toe the line just for the sake of it. Y'all need to stop this black/white thinking you are so prone to. One can no support AIPAC funded democrats and still be left wing and not MAGA.

This is so clever and enlightening. Everybody should read this. Truly inspiring in these times of darkness.
Thank you for this skillfully written, compassionate and fiercely honest piece.
Very well said - thank you!
